You may know Patti Boulaye from those Lux adverts where we were certain we had never seen anyone so beautiful, but I bet you did not know that she had dedicated a large part of her life to charity work – both in the UK and in Africa – and this week, the British monarchy recognised her hard work with an OBE, making her an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of The British Empire.
Patti Boulaye and her work for Africa
The actress is the founder and President of the charity “Support for Africa”, which has built five clinics in rural Africa and a school with HRH Prince Harry’s Charity, “Sentebale”, in Lesotho.
While being famous for her singing and stage appearances, it is worthy of note that for over 30 years, Patti has supported many charities in the UK. Her experience with the charities came in handy when she launched her charity Support For Africa (SFA) at the Royal Albert Hall with 3000 Gospel Singers and Stars of stage and screen. Patti is a recognized top public circuit speaker and has spoken many times in both Houses of Parliament and at many conferences/events across the world. She is the Founder and Managing Director of BIPADA Academy for good Etiquette and Protocol.
Ms Boulaye’s Facebook post:
This is heart-warming news indeed, and as one Facebook commenter noted: “Congratulations, you made our heritage proud in UK. This is another picture for Nigeria in UK. Many thanks for changing the picture from the ‘Omo Olodu’ patronage to great people”
Now y’all see why we call the website Viva Naija? We as a people are so amazeballs, it hurts!
