After the success of Wakaa, I was happy to hear about anything with the name Bolanle Austen Peters attached to it. Plot, performance and polish, BAP Productions seems to have it down pat. So hearing that SARO the Musical is coming to the UK, I’m thinking “Shut up and take my money”.
The show will be hitting London this summer, along with some of the finest talent in Nigerian theatre such as Gideon Okeke (Gbomo Gbomo Express, Relentless), Bimbo Manuel (Dazzling Mirage, October 1) and many others.
The musical tells the story of four young people and their life-changing journey to Lagos and their human odyssey through hopes, dreams, misfortunes, loves, and destiny; all crafted in a rich and involving 14 act masterpiece. SARO explores the endeavours of the characters with an empathetic and realistic gaze, the troubles and small victories of four people discovering themselves in a harsh, unwelcoming city. The costumes, songs, choreography, and colourful and unforgettable characters will drag you into of roller coaster of entertainment through music and dance.
It’s not here yet and I’m already excited!
