Buhari on vacation: for someone who tried a gazillion times to be president, it certainly seems like Buhari doesn’t like Nigeria o. I mean…other than the fact that he point blank doesn’t seem to care about Nigerians, he doesn’t actually like the soil. Our president would LITERALLY prefer to be anywhere other than in Nigeria.

Dem dey judge one matter for Australia? Zooooom! Merkel saying something something about fiscal policies? Touch down! Jammeh refusing to step down? E dey craze?? Let’s go and see what all the fuss is about!

But thousands killed in South Kaduna? Fulani Herdsmen losing their God-given minds? Schools closed interminably to the point that governors taunt students? My president’s response?

Nobody said awa grandpa should work himself to an early grave; but during the 9-5 that he is actually supposed to be working on Nigeria’s issues, a little feedback wouldn’t kill him or his media team. When it is apparent to the public that you are working, they are less inclined to begrudge you a few days’ rest. But this one that he’s doing like he’s a pilot’s understudy…I am not aware at all.

With regards to Buhari on Vacation, Femi Adesina, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity said this in a statement in Abuja on Thursday:

He is expected to resume work on February 6, 2017. During the vacation, the President will also undergo routine medical check-ups. In line with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the President of the Senate, and Speaker, House of Representatives, have been duly communicated.

“While away, the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, will perform the functions of the Office of the President.”

Osinbajo? I’m sorry, who? What? Where? When? I mean, he’s not as footloose and fancy-free as his oga but I do question his ability to run the country satisfactorily. That said, I doubt he can do much worse than Buhari. How much is naira against the pound now? It is well.

Welcome to the UK, Presido. I think you’ll like it here. It’s a bit cold but there’s less of the killing and whatnot that you’re undoubtedly used to. I believe if you go to either 10 Downing Street or Windsor Castle/Buckingham Palace, you’ll find the leaders at home too. Knock on their door; they might offer you some tea.
