Foreign Secretary Calls Immigrants ‘Marauders’. Okay o

Phillip Hammond

I try not to talk about politics too much as I don’t know my Marxism from my Ooni of Ife.

This did come to light this morning though and it got me thinking about swings and roundabouts.

Phillip Hammond

Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has come under attack for describing African migrants on their way to Calais as “marauding”. Foreign Secretary o! He said

As long as the Europe Union’s laws are the way they are, many of them will only have to set foot in Europe to be pretty confident that they will never be returned to their country of origin.

Now, that is not a sustainable situation because Europe can’t protect itself and preserve its standard of living and social structure if it has to absorb millions of migrants from Africa.

So long as there are large numbers of pretty desperate migrants marauding around the area there will always be a threat to the tunnel’s security.

Ha. Ha. Ha.

Let me be clear – I fully believe that the situation cannot continue uncontrolled. There has to be measures, there has to be structure, there has to be control. Here’s my thing: I googled ‘marauding’, it means:

Just the irony of an ENGLISHMAN – the Foreign Secretary at that – using the word ‘marauding’ to describe people who have neither stolen nor attacked, but are looking for a better life.

What even got me rolling is that he was talking to Greek Prime Minister to Hong Kong, Alexis Tsipras. Ogbeni Tsipras, how do you know they’re not risking life and limb to come over the seas to come lend you a fiver? Some people are just so ungrateful sha.

Anyway, I’ll just sit here, sip on my long, tall glass of Schadenfreude while I lay these gently on your screens this morning.
