Gene Wilder Death – the family of the comedy genius has today confirmed that Gene Wilder has passed on. While we may not have seen him on our screens in many years, he will never be forgotten. He was one heck of a comedian! While the world will remember him for his captivating turn as Willy Wonka in the movie adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, my favourite Gene Wilder role will always be Skip Donahue in Stir Crazy.
Acting beside the brilliant Richard Pryor, Gene Wilder was so lovable, so empathetic, that he secured a place in my heart forever. The actor had been in many amazing films, however. He starred in classic favourites such as The Producers, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein.
The two-time Oscar-nominated actor was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 1989 but stayed fighting. He is reported to have finally died on Sunday in Stamford, Connecticut, due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease.
He will surely be missed but appreciated for his amazing portfolio of work.
