When I think about the musicians that have been alive in my lifetime, I feel all sorts of awesome. We have had Prince, Barry White, LUUUUUTHER!!!!!!!!!!! And then we have had the mastery of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. Say what you will about Mozart or worreva, but we are the children of great music.
Whitney Houston left us way too soon. She would have been fifty three today. That means that after that light, flirty tone of “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”, by now she would have been getting some base in her voice. My Nippy would have been getting that sort of gravitas that only comes from living.
Also, I kinda feel like her song choices would have been more daring, more bold, more risque. Mama would have been “I’ma sing what I’ma sing and y’all just gonna have to deal!”
But our songbird left us. And while we are sad, we have plenty to be happy about. Like a discography full of jaw-dropping hits. And we’re here to get it good!
Two audio downloads of some of her best hits. Because Whitney is bae 🙂
