Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has reportedly turned down the chance to sign for Arsenal.

The 29-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in recent days after it become apparent that the Gunners had activated his release clause of £20m.

According to a report, Vardy promised Arsenal an answer on Monday, but the capital club did not receive word from the striker, who is currently with the England squad in France ahead of Euro 2016.

The Mirror reports that Arsenal are currently losing their battle to sign Vardy as Leicester prepare to offer the former non-league forward another new contract at the King Power Stadium.

Vardy scored 24 Premier League goals last season as Leicester lifted the English title.
