John Boyega leads the Old Vic in Woyzeck play

If you were ever in doubt of John Boyega’s acting chops or his ability to be more than a Star Wars storm trooper, the Nigerian actor has dispelled that myth with his latest turn at The Old Vic – one of the most influential and prominent theatre houses in the UK.

The multi-award winning playwright, Jack Thorne, breathes new life into WOYZECK, one of the most influential plays ever written, creating for our time what Georg Büchner intended for his: an unforgettable howl of rage.

The play will star the indomitable John Boyega (Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens) as lead and will be directed by Joe Murphy.

Despite being Hollywood-famous now, the versatile Boyega continues to hone his craft and spread his wings and this is an amazing feat for any artist to do.

What makes us super-proud though is that his Nigerian roots are unshakeable as seen in this meme. Since the day we knew Boyega’s true feelings about Jollof rice and dodo, we swore we would follow his career to its zenith!  😆

WOYZECK will run from Saturday 25 February until Saturday 15 April 2017.

  1. I noticed him for the first time in 24 season 9. He killed the role to pieces! Then when I saw him in Half Of A Yellow Sun I knew he was a star material. He is my “replacement” for Denzel Washington….
