First, there was Google and then there was Facebook; two companies making their work environments funky, creative and unique. Over time, more and more employers started to realise that work spaces do not have to be soulless and regimented in order to be called a working environment and indeed, creative spaces birth creative processes, giving rise to productivity and happier employees. It’s therefore a fab surprise to see that Efritin – the Nigerian online marketplace for…well, everything – has jazzed up its work spaces, meeting rooms, and even dining areas with funky names and interesting décor to keep staff motivated.
Adewale Yusuf took an office tour of the newly completed premises for IT and tech blog, Techpoing.ng and confirmed that every part of the office is named after popular marketplaces in Nigeria. Kunbi Majekodunmi, the Head of Human Resources, explained that the modelling was important as it helped staff to commit to the company culture which encourages FLEXIBILITY, FUN and HARD WORK.
What makes this so amazing is that they stayed true, not just to the ethos of creating a productive workplace , but doing it using themes and names that sat well with their own line of business (marketplaces in Lagos and beyond), and keeping the twist African and authentic. Not sure what a market is, go to Balogun market and let Jesus minister to you!
