At exactly 12:55pm, Oyebola Ojo, chief judge of Osun state, administered the oath of office on Oyetola Gboyega, the new Governor of Osun State.
Oyetola, who won the governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was sworn in as the 5th executive governor of Osun state, at the Osogbo Township Stadium.
The 64-year-old who hails from Iragbiji, the headquarters of Boripe local government area of Osun, served in the immediate past administration as Chief of Staff to the governor.
Dressed in all white brocade with purple cap, Oyetola, who flanked by his wife, Kafayat, in his inaugural speech promised to prioritise workers and pensioners’ welfare, He said: “We shall prioritise the welfare of workers and pensioners to advance the success recorded by the last administration and make sure everybody feels the impact of progressive government.
“We are convinced that the peaceful atmosphere and relative stability of electricity in the state will attract investment.
“We shall also improve on the IGR and improve agricultural activities to attract nine new farm settlements and grow the agro-industry sector to ensure food security and create 30,000 thousand jobs.”
In attendance were Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) who represented President Muhammadu Buhari; Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the APC; Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the APC.
