I think my spirit animal is Igbo or perhaps it’s my Up Bendeh blood that is representing, but whenever I hear a new tune that seems to have echoes of high-life or Igbo words, I automatically gel. Be it Flavour, Don Jazzy or Phyno.
I was automatically lifted by this song, and although I don’t understand the lyrics, I think he is talking about humble beginnings and getting as far as he has. Certainly the video seems to depict that, and that even makes me like the song more. The earthiness and realness of the song make me miss home something fierce.
Olamide is in the video, and even though he didn’t say a word, it’s great to see artistes cameo in videos to support their colleagues. I’m not surprised though – everybody knows Olamide is King Bae. *pokes out tongue*
Anyway, here’s the brilliant offering by Phyno. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!
