President Buhari signs 2016 Budget – What’s next? Will “Sai Change” come now?

28

After spending so much time on the dance floor, the Nigeria’s 2016 pad-prone Budget was finally signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari today. Uhuru? No…not yet.

Now that this controversial budget has been signed for action, more productively and speedier than ever, implementation must be put into first gear for the sake of the excuse-overfed Nigerian. The budget dance has gone macabre since, and now that it’s no more an excuse for delayed activity, nothing else should be a challenge to ‘Change’.

Macroeconomic grammar must now be excised from the lingo of government. ..Now is the time to speak the language the average, deserving, enduring, and tax-paying citizen will easily understand – a language that metes practical democratic dividends unto their wellbeing. How soon light go dey? How sooner will the roads get standard upgrades and fixes? How soonest will inflation disappear? How sooner than soonest will livingnin Naija less hectic? That simple. That average Nigerian doesn’t want to hear economical jibes now, it’d all amount to gibberish….

The reaslist in this writer bemoans the fanfare with which this budget was signed though. It stirs the paranoia that breeds the thought about the lack of seriousness in the corridors of governance; that lack of obvious gumption that favors exigency, proactivity, passionate readiness to get to work!  I hope I’m wrong, but, I just ask, for a nation literally on the death row, for a nation that needs exigent action to relieve her citizens, must her supposed leaders shine their teeth, fledge in their agbada armada, and pose like inglorious basterds in a photo for a budget signing that is 5 months late? Budget signing ceremony? Ceremony kwa….? Boosit! !!

Just prove your worth ASAP in implementing jor!

  1. It is is the same old story. Budget can’t change anything in Nigeria. It is a mere theory. It is a budget of hope theoretically. Practically, it is nothing, but poverty, sorrow and sadness. We shoud stop deceiving ourselves. We should stop hypocritism and sycophantism. The only solution to nigerian problems is true fiscal federalism. Otherwise, nigerians will continue to wallowing in abject poverty, sorrow and sadness. Buhari can’t do nothing with the budget. The solution to the nigerian problems Buhari and hausa/fulani hate it. It is not a curse, but in reality, Nigeria can’t stand without true federalism. Let’s wait and see.
