TEDxEuston presents IDENTITY: first student event during Black History Month

Self-description usually begins with the letter ‘I’.

It shows ownership. It helps us explain who we are, what we do, where we are and why we are. But sometimes, when we try to describe ourselves, we don’t own the narrative. Sometimes, we are told what we are, who we are, why we are.

How much power or ownership do we have over our individuality? What happens when we don’t know what to associate ourselves with?

We don’t have the answers. But we are searching for them, and we invite you to join us on this exciting experience. We’re bringing fantastic food, sensational speakers, a phenomenal performer, our legendary and generous goody bags, and a vast venue – so all you need to bring is yourselves. There are many boxes that we are forced to fit into – by race, creed, sexuality, nationality, gender etc. – but what excites us is the ability for our descriptions to change. The capacity for it to develop, to grow, to evolve, to METAMORPH. We may not have the answers, but we know you’ll leave with the right questions.

Self-description usually begins with the letter ‘I’.

We’re going to evolve from a letter to a word. We’re going to deal with the topic of Identity.

TEDxEustonSalon: Identity is our first ever event for students only taking place during Black History Month.

We welcome students from all over the country to join us on Thursday 19th October in Shoreditch.
