Yesterday was the premiere of the Seyi Babatope film When Love Happens, and it was everything a premiere should be!
It was classy, it was cerebral, it was aspirational. I sincerely hope this is the dawn of new things for Nollywood because I caught my trips mehn!
The screen was packed to the rafters, every seat in the house was occupied by beautiful people who came out to see Nollywood at its finest.
THE PLOT: Without giving too much away, it is the story of a young lady, Moduroti Bankole-Smith (Weruche Opia), and her search for true love via internet dating, exes (Dare played by OC Ukeje), and a delve into the friend zone (Tobe played by Gideon Okeke).
Shaffy Bello put in a faboosh performance as Moduroti’s mum, and her favourite line “Tunde (her husband, played by Bassey Keppy Ekpeyong), talk to your daughter!” is one I’ve heard so many times from my own mum aka Mama Yemi.
The storyline might be one you’ve seen before, but the polish, the gloss, and the beauty of the production means you should definitely go and watch it!
It’s showing in most Odeon cinemas right now – GO AND WATCH IT, I TAKE GOD BEG YOU. Over sweet is worrying the film!
