The first time I saw them was on an NTA breakfast show anchored by the late veteran, Yinka Craig. From the moment Shifi strung the first cord on his guitar and sang Olufunmi together with Tunde and Zeal, I knew we were in for a “hit-storm”. Styl Plus Olufunmi was monumental, the group gave us something new and fresh through that single, and the rest as they say is history!
Styl Plus was formed in the 1997 as a gospel group but later they moved into RnB. The group gave us more wonderful songs that rocked the nation for a long time, and even till date, but their biggest hit remains the nicely-scripted, well-mixed and sonorously-rendered Olufunmi.
Few weeks ago, Styl Plus, now without Tunde, released a new single titled ‘Aso Ibora’ [see below], saying it was for their fans who have stood with them through the years. Well, it’s Olufunmi’s day today!
Kindly relive the awesomeness of Olufunmi below!
