It’s no secret that we here at Viva Naija are not crazy about Jidenna aka The Classic Man (we prefer to call him “that Prince Albert-looking guy”) after his comment on shipping guns to Nigeria for security while attending his father’s funeral because he’s light skinned. Yes. We know. We’re petty and we don’t forgive easily. Worreva.
Anyway, it seems like the whole of America (and some Nigerians, ugh) are famzing with him, so for the sake of the campaign he is in, we’ll talk about him here.
The All Things Ankara Ball is the brainchild of Nikki Billie Jean – a designer and stylist who is passionate about bringing African fashion to the forefront in a way that is both stylish and elegant. “Nigerian Renaissance” is the theme for All Things Ankara Ball 2015.
The idea: To display, expose & educate, the public and the world to the rich culture of a Nigerian Renaissance man and woman though illuminating Ankara Print Fashion and vibrant craftsmanship.
The ball is a formal social event in which the guest attend in luxurious, classy, elegant & couture Ankara Print Attire.
It is also the Official Nigeria Independence Ball and the event includes: electrifying music, exciting entertainment, and an award ceremony to honour Nigerian Renaissance Men and Women excelling in the Nigerian and African Community at large
The event will take place: Saturday, October 17th, 2015 from 9pm-2am at Adele H. Stamp Student Union Grand Ballroom at The University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland.
Jidenna, being an ambassador of the event along with the stunning Jessica Chibueze, a Nigerian-American model & international philanthropist, was interviewed by Raro Lae during the filming of the ball’s promotional campaign. At the interview, he confirmed that he would be working with Wizkid.
Well, to me sha o, he said he “met” Wizkid and should have something with him really soon, but let it not be said that I’m trying to stop his shine.
That being said, I need each and everyone of you to get into these images from the photoshoot by All Things Ankara and the video promoting the ball. Set to ‘Runtown’ by Gallardo ft Davido, it is visually stunning and makes me proud to be Nigerian.
