He once donated his golden boot to Gaza, donates blood at every opportunity, and humanitarian feats, many unreported….So much for selfish Ronaldo, huh??
With the constant preening (he is a model after all), muscle flexing, and intense emotions on the pitch, it is easy to get the idea that Cristiano Ronaldo is self-obsessed. But his record off the pitch tells a different story. Having earlier been named the most charitable athlete on earth, Ronaldo has continued to live up to his reputation as man with a heart, as he donated his full 600 grand bonus for winning the UEFA Champions League to an NGO. It’s good to know that in the midst of winning the most coveted title in Europe, Ronaldo has managed to remember what is really important – giving back to your community. What a human being.
Cristiano Ronaldo may have scored the winning penalty in last Saturday’s Champions League final but his off the pitch actions are generating just as much praise as his on pitch heroics.
Seconds after winning Real Madrid their 11th Champions League crown, Ronaldo was widely celebrated for stopping to take photos with a group of disabled fans, and the striker will have further endeared himself to the public with his latest gesture.
Spanish journalist Pipi Estrada has told Defensa Central that Ronaldo has opted to donate his Champions League win bonus, €600,000, to an NGO charity.
Ronaldo’s recent philanthropy comes after a season where he scored 51 goals in 48 games and won his third European Cup medal.
