Over the past few days, a lot of attention has been drawn to the issue of rape, as a result of the confession by Busola Dakolo in a tell-all interview where she alleged that she was raped as a teenager by Pastor Fatoyinbo, founder of COZA, at her parents’ home in Ilorin.
The issue has led to many Nigerians protesting against rape, and it has raised a lot of questions among those who are in search of the truth. Many have claimed that the courts of social media is not real justice and she must go to an actual court and seek legal redress if she truly believes she has a case.
While waiting for the robust and swift legal response that Pastor Fatoyinbo promised us on his COZA letter-headed paper refutal last week, yesterday, Busola Dakolo officially filed a rape complaint against him.
From what we’ve heard, we can also gather that the police have already launched an investigation following the complaint.
We might be getting closer than we think to the conclusion of this drama. Will the pastor be found guilty? Or will he be proven innocent of all the charges against him? At this moment, we can only hope that nothing but the truth prevails but whatever happens, this turning point in the way Nigerians deal with rape allegations is a welcome change.
