Hosted by CcHub’s founder and CEO, ‘Bosun Tijani, the launch event will begin a UK-wide search for ventures that focus on three key areas: Financial Technology, Energy, Education.
The goal of the Diaspora Challenge is to harness the intellect of some of the 300k+ highly qualified Africans in the Diaspora and essentially plug the gaps left by the emigration of so many African professionals to the West, which is one of the continent’s biggest challenges to development. Between May-July, the CcHub team will host information sessions in Manchester, Glasgow, Leicester and London, searching for early-stage ventures without prototype, as well as existing businesses in high-growth areas who are ready to scale-up. Following a selection process, six companies will be chosen for a six month incubation and will receive between $15,000-$25,000 of investment.
For the event, CcHub will be joined by notable tech luminaries, including Andela and Flutterwave co-founder Iyin Aboleji and Dr. Nelson Ogashakin OBE. They will be joined by leading Nigerian musicians, Bez and Cobhams, who will both perform live, to make this a true celebration of African culture.
CcHub is a vibrant community of over 15,200 technologists, entrepreneurs and other forward thinking Nigerians and in its five years, has already incubated and provided support to a portfolio of over 55 early stage ventures providing solutions to social problems with technology.
