Wizkid breaks record, becomes first African artiste to sell out prestigious Royal Albert Hall!

Bangdededang!! Wizkid is not regular at all! You may remember him from the days of “pakurumo” but our boy has gone further than that; breaking down frontiers, pushing barriers, and breaking records! He has collaborated with non-Nigerian artistes while staying true to his sound, he has evolved in musical and dress style, he has simply stayed winning. I ain’t mad at this guy at all, and I think he has done Nigeria and the African nation proud!

His recent triumph is selling out the famed and illustrious Royal Albert Hall in London. This is no small feat, I assure you. It is difficult enough for a group of artistes to collabo and make this happen. Wizkid is doing big tings and he’s doing it the right way!

The performance was FIYAH and the crowd got more than their money’s worth as they screamed and cheered along to all of his hits!

Wizkid seems ardent on conquering the international scene; taking the African sound and culture mainstream and crossing over. He doesn’t seem content with Nigerian recognition; he wants the world to know his name, and given the makeup of yesterday’s audience, it would seem he’s well on his way to that fame.

I can’t think of many Nigerian artistes who would consider the Royal Albert Hall as a venue for performance. Royal Albert Hall is the Beatles, it is Mick Jagger, it is Adele. That Wizkid would choose this iconic venue is proof positive of the ambitions of this young man, and the triumph is a landmark that no one can ever take from him. Congratulations!
