Bulie by Preye Odede – this song has been playing on repeat all day and I simply cannot get enough! It really is not a throwback as I heard it for the very first time last night although YouTube says it was uploaded in December 2015. @realangelaokorie uploaded an excerpt of it on her Instagram last night and I was hooked. I couldn’t get past the rousing chorus in the background and watched her excerpt over ten times before sleeping, promising myself that I would find out who sang it in the morning. I woke up with the song on my mind and reached for my phone to play it again. Luckily, my search didn’t take long; someone had dropped the artiste’s name in the comments. Oh, happy day!
Listen, anyone who knows me knows I am a sceptic of Nigerian Christianity. The hypocrisy and wrongdoing no be here. But Bulie is an exceptional song that thanks and worships God for life. The musical arrangement is sublime and even as the title of the song means “Lift Him”, Bulie lifts me to another realm.
From age to age
Idi agbanwo agbanwe (You can never change)
When I call on You
Idighi agharipu (You can never disappoint)
Odighi onye dika gi (Who is like unto Thee)?
Bulie eze ndi eze (LIFT HIM UP HE’S THE KING OF GLORY)
Bulie by Preye Odede. A song of gratitude; a hymn of praise. Just press play. I know it’ll bless you.
