Saturday’s star-studded event is widely regarded as a key indicator of who will take home the top gongs at the Oscars, …I think it’s safe to say DiCaprio’s first golden statue is 90% loading….Idris Elba, Viola Davies, and Uzo Aduba winning on the night doused the whole “black actors neglect” that has seemed to spoil the award season, at least for the night.

He was hugged by his Titanic co-star Kate Winslet on his way up to the stage, where he said: “I am truly humbled by this because it comes from my fellow actors.
“When I was 15 I was lucky enough to get a film called This Boy’s Life and after that I watched as many films as I could and it gave me a such a respect for this craft.
“I was in awe of the performances and I was inspired. To any young actors, I encourage you to watch the history of cinema because we stand on the shoulders of giants.”
He added: “My parents, thank you for listening to an overly ambitions, slightly annoying 13-year-old kid who wanted to go on auditions after school, I would not be here without you.”
Brie Larson was presented with the award for outstanding performance by a female actor in a leading role for Room.
Addressing the members of the guild, she said: “When I was born I was worried I was unlovable and your movies made me feel less alone and made me feel it was a safe place to explore my creativity.”
British star Idris Elba won the supporting actor SAG Award for Beasts of No Nation in a rebuke to the all-white Oscar nominations, along with a second award for his role in Luther in the TV movie/miniseries category.
“We made a film about real people and real lives,” he said in his acceptance speech at the Shrine Auditorium. “Thank you for giving this film some love.”
Idris didn’t receive an Oscar nomination for the role – one of the most widely cited reasons why there was a strong negative reaction to the 20 acting Oscar nominations going only to white actors.
The actor, who portrayed a commandant in a brutal African conflict, won over Christian Bale for The Big Short, Mark Rylance for Bridge of Spies, Michael Shannon for 99 Homes and Jacob Tremblay for Room.
On receiving the second award for BBC America’s Luther, Idris said, “Two awards – I don’t know what to say” after thanking the producing team behind the crime drama.
Alicia Vikander, who stunned in a sequin Louis Vuitton gown, won the SAG Award for her supporting actress role in The Danish Girl.
In what’s regarded as one of the closest categories, the Swedish actress topped Rooney Mara for Carol, Rachel McAdams for Spotlight, Helen Mirren for Trumbo and Kate Winslet for Steve Jobs.
Orange Is the New Black dominated the comedy series trophies at the SAG Awards, winning the ensemble cast and the female actor award for Uzo Aduba.
It was the second win in a row for Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black and for Aduba.
Jeffrey Tambor won the trophy for male actor in a comedy series for Transparent.
Queen Latifah took the actress in a TV miniseries/movie award for HBO’s Bessie in which she portrayed pioneering blue singer Bessie Smith.
A delighted Latifah began her acceptance by doing several curls with the trophy and declaring “Oh my god, I am in shock right now!”
