Ugh. Sometimes, we black people are the very worst. Actor Derek Luke, well known for his roles in the first Avengers and as Malcolm DeVeaux in the hit series Empire, has been receiving a lot of flak from the African-American community for marrying outside of his race as his wife Sophia Luke is Hispanic.
Never mind that they have a solid union. Never mind that they’ve been making it work for 17 years. Never mind that she’s a HUMAN. Let’s just say hurtful things to try to damage a good thing built on love.
And it’s not even because they’re trying to preserve the black race. These morons are always in their feelings about Robert de Niro and how great he is for marrying a black woman.
Marry black by force indeed. Some people married people from their own village and they couldn’t make it work for five minutes, but they’re out here hatin’ on people putting in the work – more so when one half of the union is in Hollywood.
Ugh. The worst.
Anyway, Luke had to clap back at the naysayers and he did so in a very respectful manner. Read the transcript below.
What do you think? Have you ever dated outside your race? Are you married to a non-black person? Have you ever been on the receiving end of racism or negative comments? Damnit, I want pictures of cute babies!
I never usually entertain the opinions of others because everyone is entitled to they’re own opinion. (Positive or Negative).
But we’re in the year of 2015 & when should it be a “problem” to date outside of your race? Why is that an issue AGAIN? I’m doing the unusual & going through my comments & the comments I see about my wife being another race is bugging me out.
Who one chooses to date is that persons business.
Instead of focusing on (Happiness) & (pure Love) for some reason some folks are still focused on (Color). Doesn’t make any sense to me. But I guess that’s the ignorance of OTHERS.
My wife may not be Black but she is mine. And she’s mine with a heart of gold.
People are so quick to judge but can’t even distinguish the difference of another’s race.
Sophia Luke is Hispanic. She’s not white, she’s not black, she’s not Chinese, she’s Hispanic.
And she’s mine!!
