PACKED PRIVATE VIEWING FOR PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION ‘SOUNDS OF AFRICA’ ATTRACTS THE CREME OF LONDON NIGERIANS AND SELLS FOUR PIECES IN ONE HOUR.
Yesterday, Tuesday 25th August 2015 saw the first day and private viewing of SOUNDS OF AFRICA , the photography exhibition showing the works of Michael Tubi, a renowned and respected London-based documentary photographer, who specialises in capturing the great and the good of the African entertainment scene.
The venue was filled to capacity as friends, family, supporters and patrons of the arts networked and gazed at the awesome pieces displayed – photographs of legends such as Femi Kuti, Hugh Masekela, Salawa Abeni, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal,
In the midst of champagne and canapés, guests rushed to purchase magnificent pieces: in the space of one hour, Femi Kuti, Tiwa Savag, KWAM1 and Onyeka Onwenu had new owners.
The humble photographer who is typically used to being unseen behind the lens was at once befuddled by being in the spotlight and pleased to be able to share the glory of his work with the world.
The power of Social Media has sent the hashtag#soundsofafrica
