The Joebol Exquisite International Achievements Recognition (JEIAR) Awards Dinner was a sparkling event of glitz and glamour – everything that could be expected from the a stylish couple who have continued to fly the flag high for Nigerian achievers in the UK.
The event, now in its second year, is the brainchild of Bola and Joe Imuaphe, and was always meant as a way of recognising Nigerian high-flyers in the UK while giving people a chance to network and mingle within their community.
If you thought the first year’s event was something, this second outing had to be seen to be believed. The gowns were sensational, the men were dapper and flawless, the great and the good were in attendance, and the hall was filled to capacity.
Most of the important names in our community came through. We had: consummate business gurus and Women for Africa Founders Tola and Sam Onigbanjo, Boxing Champion Larry Ekundayo and his wife (my personal person) Melissa, Dr Dayo Olomu and wife Sade, impressive TV presenter Priscilla Nwikpo, firm TV favourite Ellen Thomas, fashion designer Kwame Baoteng, two of the key custodians of our traditions here in the UK: Royal Princesses Deun Adedoyin Solarin and Toyin Onagoruwa, and so many more.
Needless to say, our man about town and general Don Dapper himself Bayo Oyekan was on hand to give us pictures that spill all the tea!
