Silver-lining? Burden off? Rehab restarts? Solace arrives? Storm over? Now what? Ese motherhooded*? Well, whatever it is, the arrival of a new baby, no matter the circumstances, is never stripped of its acute magic.
Ese Oruru, the fourteen-year-old girl abducted from Bayelsa State in August 2015, delivered a baby girl today at the Government House clinic in the Bayelsa State capital Yenagoa. The father is reportedly Yunusa Dahiru, the man who abducted Ese last year.
These developments were confirmed by Ese’s father Charles Oruru.
Mr. Oruru said that the baby girl and Ese are in good health and that she had a safe delivery.
He added that Ese was in the company of her mother during the delivery.
“Ese delivered a bouncing girl and she and the baby are in good health, I just left the clinic where I went to see them,” Mr. Oruru said.
Ese is known to have been in the protective custody of police since she was released from her abductor in March of this year. Upon her release it was discovered that she was pregnant.
Ese was allegedly abducted by Mr. Dahiru and taken to Kano State where she was forcefully married to him.
Mr. Dahiru was charged with abduction, kidnapping, unlawful carnal knowledge and sexual exploitation by the police on March 8, 2016.
Mr. Dahiru, who pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him, was granted bail in the sum of N3 million but has remained in prison because he could not meet his bail conditions.
