Rio Paralympics 2016: Russian athletes banned after doping scandal

1

I have never seen an “I don’t care” country like Russia. They just seem to be a law unto themselves and have no respect for anything or anyone else. Putin remains popular because he is the embodiment of the Russian ideal. He is proud, obstinate (even in the face of destruction), and unyielding; a believer in brute force. Because of this “take it by force” attitude, their athletes are suffering. The news has emerged that Russian athletes are banned from competing at the Rio Paralympics 2016 because of the country’s doping scandal.

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) had opened suspension proceedings following the McLaren report, and has now confirmed the ban. The report, published last month, claimed Russia had operated a state-sponsored doping programme.

Do you understand what that means? This is not the case of one individual running afoul of doping laws. One person trying to garner personal glory. The entire country is complicit in manipulating doping tests and urine samples in order to win. And it is State funded. This means a bunch of people would have had to sit down and have a meeting regarding cheating. “Right, once the pee comes to you, here’s what you need to do with it…then when you’re done, pass it to…who will then do…. That way, it doesn’t matter if we are ready or not; we stay winning.” Just imagine the konkobility.

In contrast to the IPC, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) chose not to give Russia a blanket ban from the Olympic Games. This is not really surprising as that might have kicked up a heck of a stinker. The Russians don’t seem to be people who would have taken that lying down at all. After all the many, many doping manipulations?? LOL, It’s good as the IPC didn’t try themselves at all.

The Rio 2016 Paralympics begin in 31 days time and 267 Russian athletes across 18 sports will miss the Games.

“The anti-doping system in Russia is broken, corrupted and entirely compromised,” said IPC president Sir Philip Craven at a news conference on Sunday.

“The Russian Paralympic Committee are unable to ensure compliance with and enforcement of the IPC anti-doping code and the world anti-doping code within their own national jurisdiction and they can not fulfil its fundamental obligation as an IPC member.

“As a result, the Russian Paralympic Committee is suspended with immediate effect.”

IPC president Sir Philip Craven not here for Russia’s shenanigans

“Tragically this situation is not about athletes cheating a system, but about a state-run system that is cheating the athletes. The doping culture that is polluting Russian sport stems from the Russian government.

“The Russian government has catastrophically failed its Para-athletes. Their medals over morals mentality disgusts me. The complete corruption of the anti-doping system is contrary to the rules and strikes at the very heart of the spirit of Paralympic sport.

“It shows a blatant disregard for the health and wellbeing of athletes and, quite simply, has no place in Paralympic sport. Their thirst for glory at all costs has severely damaged the integrity and image of all sport, and has certainly resulted in a devastating outcome for the Russian Paralympic Committee and Para-athletes.”
