Imagine ke! A whole day went by yesterday without YorubaSwag – a whole YorubaSwag o, going without saluting one of the greatest musicians out of Africa – a happy birthday? King Sunny Ade celebrated his birthday and we didn’t say a word???
In fact we must fine all you members for not alerting iya eto. Haba! O ku die kaa to o.
For the many years this King has been of service to us churning out evergreen songs? In fact I know of no household that have not heard his songs or danced to his great tunes regardless of the ethnic stock you call yourself!
He has served his people and he still continues to do so and frankly, I don’t see him relenting because he seems to be growing in reverse – meaning he is not ageing. Getting older, he is, but ageing? I don’t see it o.
It is an immense blessing and honour to call this King among men a Yoruba man and as we are now all about proclaiming Yoruba swag, may we also take this opportunity to remind us all that it began with this man. Have you seen his dance steps? His boyish good looks, the grin, the agbada?
Kai! Even at my younger age then, I could honestly say that I crushed on this man when his ‘surprise’ album was released.
Eyin omo egbe, e jo, e ba mi se ayesi eni nla to ti se oun nla, to si tun Ma se oun kamama.
Oba Sunny omo Alade, e ku ojo ibi sir. Ke pe baba. E fewu pari, ee ferigi jobi. Opolopo odun le yi Ma se lori le alaye.
Happy birthday sir.
