Nat King Cole was always a firm favourite, so the passing of his daughter, Natalie Cole, adds a feeling of yet another great loss as the multi Grammy award-winning songbird moves on to meet her father after battling with illness.
The beautiful Natalie died on New Year’s Eve, aged 65, at a hospital in Los Angeles, her publicist told the Associated Press news agency.
The singer had experienced ill health, having recently cancelled a series of performances, including one on New Year’s Eve.
“Natalie fought a fierce, courageous battle, dying how she lived… with dignity, strength and honour. Our beloved mother and sister will be greatly missed and remain unforgettable in our hearts forever,” said a statement from her son Robert Yancy, and sisters, Timolin and Casey Cole, AP reported.
While she rose to fame as an R&B artist with tracks such as This Will Be and Inseparable, my favourite track remains Miss You Like Crazy – a beautiful love song.
Rest in peace, Natalie, you will be remembered for your talent and your advancement of your father’s worthy fame.
