Caribbean Outrage At Afrobeats At Notting Hill Carnival. We Don’t Care.

Hahahahaha! Some members of the Caribbean Community are not happy Afrobeats to be played at the Notting Hill Carnival – the annual ho-down that happens on the Notting Hill route every year on the August bank holiday weekend.

Now in it’s 50th year, the Notting Hill Carnival has been synonymous with the celebration of Caribbean culture, but now there is discussion on whether Afrobeats should be played at the carnival as it is not a genre indigenous to the Caribbean culture.

Hah! We’re over here like:

What these young guns don’t understand is that the Notting Hill Carnival might have had its roots in the Caribbean, but PARTY and FLEXING is a black thing, and nobody do it better than we do – NAIJA 4 LYFE! We wouldn’t lose sleep if someone played Sean Paul or Beanie Man at a Naija party. We’d just burst out our best dancehall moves and get with it!

So with all due respect, come 29th-31st August, we’re gonna be over there, we will bring our AfroBEAST and the Nigerian Corner will be LIT! Dance if you want to; pack face if you want to, na you know!

Notting Hill Carnival:
