House of Reps, NASS, and the Urgent Need for a Hefty Wardrobe Allowance

I guess the lesson to be taken away from the recent brouhaha at the House of Representatives in Abuja is that Nigerians should not question public spending otherwise they will be given a valid response.

The wardrobe allowance for members of the House of Reps was brought into question when wild and flagrant figures were being thrown about by the media (anywhere between .5m to 8.64bn naira depending on whom you ask). Couple days later, the Senate decided unanimously to show us exactly why they needed these kind of sums.

Common because their ‘boy’ didn’t get the desired seat, our agberos representatives decided to start punching, beating, and tearing each others’ clothes. Exemplary stuff.
