An oil spill was discovered at 4am this morning at a SEPLAT installation in Ugbeyiyin, Sapele, Delta State. It is believed to have been caused by either wanton vandalism or just touts wanting to sabotage the work of the oil and gas manufacturers.
SEPLAT is the only indigenous oil and gas exploration and production company, becoming the first to acquire and become operator of onshore oil and gas assets from international oil companies in 2010.
It is reported that the spill is still ongoing, with frantic efforts to stem the flow not having been successful so far.
