This is the sort of news I live for, that I breathe for. For every time social media gives us Kanye, insane tweets, the crazy world of YouTube user comments, and you’re just about to give up on civilisation and go live in a woodland area far, far away, a hashtag like #SupportDolapo comes up and your faith in humanity is restored.
Started on the 13th February by Enitan Okediji and championed by JJ. Omojuwa, #SupportDolapo is the cause of a young lady who desperately wants to be a medical student but ran out of funds. A GoFundMe page was opened for Dolapo Igboin, and by the sheer power of numbers and The Collective, the campaign gathered pace and very soon it snowballed into a full Twitter trend cause.
According to Enitan, this is a case of great karma and the universe doing that which is right:
If you understand the meaning of generational blessings… I'm not surprised Dolapo is reaping the blessings of what her father has done.

Dolapo's Dad sponsored his neighbor's daughter (who lost her dad) through Coventry University and secondary school….#SupportDolapo

JJ Omojuwa wrote a line in response to the outpouring of goodwill to this story and I couldn’t have said it better myself:
@mallamsani We are good people. Anyone who tells our story without telling that of the good in our midst tells a lie

Congratulations, Dolapo, on hope renewed. But a bigger congratulations to my people: a little bit from a loving heart can indeed go a long way. Congratulations to everybody who donated.
