When a marriage fails, is there more blame on one party over the other? And what are the rules when it comes to celebrity marriages? We discuss this tonight on The Talking Drum.
With news that two widely celebrated marriages have hit the rocks, we ask: how best should one navigate a public marriage?
Amara Van-Lare is a Facebook counsellor (who knew we’d have such a thing in 2017?). Two years ago, the news broke that she married Francis Van-Lare, and together, they became a couple worthy of emulation. You know the type: #RelationshipGoals sturves. They took pictures of him grabbing her boobage and they waxed lyrical about their made-in-heaven marriage until…she announced on her Facebook wall that the marriage would be dissolved come the 17th October. Wawuu of life! And now people are questioning: what makes a twice-divorced, mother-of-four any type of expert on marriages and relationships?
The second person on the noise-maker’s list is our Queen, Olori Wuraola Ogunwusi. The King and custodian of Yorubaland, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, married her amidst a lot of disgruntled disapproval. Eighteen months later, the marriage has hit the rocks amidst allegations of lies, fraud and fertility issues – all committed by the Queen! What do you do when no one is rooting for you in your marriage? When the fault is always gonna be laid at your feet?
When a marriage fails, how does one handle it in the public eye?
